
The mother of George Floyd’s daughter, Roxie Washington, has sued Kanye West for $250 (£223) million, in damages after he suggested- on a podcast last week that the late -George Floyd died due to a fentanyl overdose. Floyd was a black American who was shoot in America back in 2020. Floyd was murdered by a Amercian police officer, which send waves of protestors over the world; Floyd was killed purely because of his skin colour.
In a since deleted interview on “Drink Champs” hosted by New York native rapper N.O.R.E, Kanye West sparked outrage as he claimed that 46-year-old George Floyd died due to a drug overdose rather than being murdered by police officer, Derek Chauvin. Kanye made a multitude of antisemitic remarks on the show.
This comes after Kanye made the headlines early in the month for wearing a White Lives Matter t-shirt at Paris Fashion Week, alongside stating that the Black Lives Matter movement is a scam.
Kanye’s comments have caused huge controversy, with the show’s N.O.R.E host apologising in a recent interview, in which he said “I made a mistake doing the Kanye Interview. I did not realise that the George Floyd statements made by Kanye on my show were so hurtful.”
This morning Balenciaga, a long-time collaborator heavily affiliated with the rapper, has stated that they have officially parted ways with Kayne, due to his recent behaviour. In an exclusive with WWD parent company Kering said Balenciaga does not have “any relationship nor any future plans with the artists”, due to his current string of hate speech.
