The year 2020 was the year of lockdown and loungewear. As the world stepped inside for lockdown, our entire way of life changed too. Before the pandemic, our days could be nicely split up: commute to work, get some work done, take a walk to the local deli at lunch, head back for a little more work and then commute back home. Nowadays, the commute takes less than two minutes with just a few steps to take from the bed to the desk. Only being able to leave the house for a daily walk or the necessities meant that no-one wanted to sit around in jeans, or a suit. Lockdown loungewear was born. Every retailer is stocking tracksuits, combining both style and comfort. Whether you prefer a matching set, or joggers on the bottom half and smart on the top, it is safe to say everyone spent at least half of their year in tracksuits.
We all miss dressing up, so for 2021 the focus is elevating the tracksuit whilst keeping comfort in mind. Co-ord sets are about to have their moment.
Co-ords are perfect as they still allow that matching moment, something about a coordinated outfit just screams style. Often made in cosy jersey fabrics or a soft knit there is no skimping on the comfort side. Even though we have all the time in the world right now, we do not want to be spending ages deciding on an outfit just to stay inside. Co-ords are here to solve that problem, in one step you have a full outfit, with an impact. They are also versatile and can be worn as separate items, keeping the element of loungewear- it will be much easier to dress up your co-ord pieces when we are finally allowed out again.
We’ve rounded up the best three-piece co-ord sets that accommodate different budgets- one is even on sale, we love! Don’t worry, we did not forget about the boys, we’ve featured two menswear sets in our favourite picks.
Who says three-piece suits are just for men? We have seen the trend of crop tops with matching jackets, so let’s take it to three pieces in one outfit featuring a pair of chic yet comfortable trousers.
This three-piece suit from ASOS design can be scooped up for £72, not too bad for a full outfit as well as three pieces you can wear separately. This co-ord is perfect if you are not ready to let go of the tracksuit trend as the trousers are a track-pant. Also featuring a racer back top, a staple in all wardrobes, and the jacket that keeps on giving, the Shacket which has been on trend for the last three years.
When we think of the 70’s, what springs to mind is orange tones, bell bottoms and abstract patterns. Combining all three is the tan love co-ord from Never Fully Dressed. NFD is a fun clothing brand based in London with original prints and fits made to flatter, their influence is their customer. The full co-ord will set you back £158 with the knit jumper costing £79 and the knit pants also costing £79.You can be assured knowing your pieces are well made and lovingly designed.
Our last pick for women comes from & Other Stories, known for their perfect balance between statement and classic pieces, the brand perfectly captures minimalistic Scandinavian style with a twist for the modern fashionista that wants to be seen.
The knitted co-ord comes in both beige and blue, but we just had to pick the blue set because it’s on sale, bargain! The knitted trousers are right on trend in a flared style and are on sale for £52 reduced from £75. In the matching ribbed finish is the knitted long cardigan which will cost £38 reduced from £65.
Onto the menswear, we’ve got two ASOS favourites for you to choose from.
Dark Feature Co-Ord
The first is from ASOS own London-based label ASOS Dark Feature. Making the classic tracksuit more stylish with a trendy patchwork design this co-ord comes in a staple neutral tone. Both the oversized sweatshirt and the oversized joggers are priced at £28, meaning you can pick up with full co-ord for £56.
If you want to step away from tracksuits fully and dress smart for those zoom calls, the answer lies in the ASOS Design smart co-ord. Arriving in a black crepe, you’ll still be comfortable. The Harrington style jacket costs £45. When it comes to mens trousers there is definitely a preference, so you can pick up either the smart skinny joggers in black crepe for £35 or the wide leg smart trousers for £30.
